This piece is one of a three part pastel series I did in the summer of 2003. I wanted everything to be said with the eyes. The high contrast between Justin and the textured background emanates an electrifying feeling. I love pastels because I experience a rush in getting my hands directly involved with the canvas. It reminds me of when I was a kid, finger painting. So much detail can be achieved using the hands; use of my hands forges a true connection to my artwork.
