Stolen Work

A couple of paintings were stolen from me about 3 years back. At the time, I didn’t want to do anything about it but as I grew stronger, I felt the need to do something. Unfortunately, I can’t find the person that stole them but I thought I could put something out there and hope that they decide to return them.

A few years back, I broke up with my ex and he got very bitter. So bitter that he decided to hide two of my most precious paintings at his ex-wife’s house. Without any access to her place and with the pending doom of knowing I had to leave, I left in a hurry thinking I would take care of this issue when I settled elsewhere. Little did I know that he had other plans for the paintings. He wasn’t giving them back. And later I would find out that he moved and told know one where he was going. He knew that by taking these paintings it would hurt my soul and that’s what he wanted. He didn’t even want something to remember me by, he wanted revenge. The ironic thing was I broke up with him because I found out that he had a huge drug problem. He hid it well and I of course was naive to the whole scene. I don’t have any bitter feelings at this point, I just want my work back.

“Contentment" - Another painting that was stolen.

I guess I am hoping that when I put this out there, he will return what belongs to me. Wishful thinking I suppose. I am sure that they might be ruined or even sold by now. Ruined because his ex-wife was a chain smoker and everything in her house reeked of it. Canvas absorbs everything and if they were there for a long time, they will smell. ick.

Now let me ask.. Have you ever had anything stolen during a break-up?
